Wherein I establish my place in the food chain

All of my closest friends in DC are incredible cooks. Before I developed much of a social network here I was working on culinary skillz of my own, but my learning curve plateaued with the introduction of people who know a lot more about food than I do.

It’s not entirely true that I’ve stopped learning. I do sous chef like mad, so I pick things up by following along, but I don’t think I’ve contributed a creation that wasn’t out of a box for some time. I do fine by myself but I only get away with my current delicious existence with the help of my friends. They also have the desire and drive to make these incredible meals several times a week, so really, what other choice do I have but to let them?

Now if you’ve read this blog at all you know that I speak the truth. MBG, V, and BananaFlux pretty much rock the kitchen, but I’d like to unveil a sleeper: Tweaks.

I went over to her place for dinner last night and was treated to tenderloin dressed up with mushrooms, onions, garlic, and other subtle ingredients I probably missed. It was served with a side of asparagus and all of it was absolutely delicious. I’ve had several of her dishes at this point and I think there’s now enough evidence to suggest she’s yet another badass of the chef variety in my circle of friends.

If I’m correct, Tweaks has tactfully suggested that her dishes can compete with the Iron Chefs’ all along. I don’t want to put anyone in the spotlight here, but I think there’s only one way to truly determine who’s cuisine reigns supreme: CHILI COOK OFF!!!

Am I right? Well, even if it never happens I think it’s a great idea. Or, you know, MBG could just whip up another batch with his recipe sometime soon. It’s fall, there’s football, it’s time for chili.

There will be some chili this Saturday. Tweaks, I think, is going to sample before she dives headlong into competition? I could be wrong but..

I take my chili pretty seriously. I’ll happily take on all contenders - there’s room for other styles, but I just don’t see one topping mine in overall deliciosity.

Thanks for the mad props yo.
I hope to taste of the MGB Chili this weekend, thusly scoping out the competition before I commit to anything.

Clearly I’ve no business calling for a cook off, but luckily my secret yet obvious plan appears to be working. (The secret plan? Me eating delicious chili.)
