Attn: Actual sloths wanted for weekend of sloth December 10
I haven’t written in a while because I’ve been sick. I didn’t feel like going to work, or the gym or doing much of anything because of it, and that’s why Tweaks’ suggestion of a weekend of sloth was more than apt. Needless to say, it didn’t take much to convince the residents of Walbridge Castle of the idea’s merits. So MBG and I hit Costco for enough lazy food preparations to gorge a small army on, and then to completely cap off the indulgence factor, MBG bought a PS3 and Rock Band. I’ll let him, CV, and TM fill in the glories of playing Hole with a full set of instruments.
We also watched movies. Planet Earth in full HD is breathtaking. High Spirits is even funnier with an ultra clear picture. Lying on an air mattress in the middle of your living room while watching is even better. The food was served in cornucopias it was in such great supply, and everyone pretty much did whatever they wanted.
My slothfulness was broken only by actual sloths on Sunday morning. While everyone else was sleeping I was standing next to a Howler Monkey howling at full howl while looking right at me from about 3 feet away in a very small space. I love it when they howl, it’s so primal, so powerful, so awesome. They do it to mark their territory and it worked on me because I was like, okay, this spot is clearly his so I’ll go elsewhere.
Before the weekend was over I made homemade popcorn using a kettle I bought online a couple months ago and finally used for the first time. My Dad always makes popcorn utilizing the kettle, and we never have microwave popcorn at home because his is sooo much better. And surprisingly easy to make, turns out. It’s kind of a tradition that my Dad prepares the popcorn when I’m at home so I had never made it like that until last night.
There will be much more homemade popcorn in the future, and I hope a few more weekends of sloth as well.

Seriously though, never twice in a row, can we agree? I feel like we need a weekend of asceticism and jogging to make up for it. In reality we probably need like a dozen of those weekends, and they ain’t comin, is they?

Asceticism and gluttony/sloth are best rotated on a three-month cycle. Is all I’m saying.
