Day nine

I can’t believe tomorrow is my last day. Time just flies, huh? Only one more gross quart of salt water at 6am. I just cracked open my third (of four) jug of syrup today, so… gonna be a lot of leftovers. The lemon juice in the fridge was juiced Monday night, so, probably past its prime, but, eh. I’m not getting up early and getting new lemons, that’s for sure. I went today and got a membership at the new WSC in c-heights, so, that’s exciting. There are also plans afoot for a personal trainer. What’s diet without exercise, right? Yeah. Still no wii fit, though it appears it’ll be delivered tomorrow. Scale holding steady at 349. I think tomorrow I’ll try to stop by the zoo and weigh myself there. Really looking forward to orange juice on Friday. ORANGE JUICE!

I am just astounded that you did this. Not, like, you specifically - but that anyone can do this. You are utterly fucking crazy, but I guess it a determined way?

Would a fast have worked if you’d just drank, like, tea the whole time, you think? Or, you know, oj or milk or whatever kind of drink that has enough calories so that you don’t totally die? Or do you think the ridicu-aide actually helped specifically?

Another beverage would have worked, I mean, probably, to make me lose weight, I suppose. I mean, my guess is if I consume 700-800 calories a day I will continue to shed weight, though I’m not positive about it. But what you’re forgetting about are the TOXINS! Oh my, do I feel toxin free! Now if only there were a program to free me from my troublesome engrams….

    dude.

after reading all these back to back to back, i’m pretty floored. and proud. honestly the hardest part of a diet is probably the part you’ve conquered (maybe due to the novelty) in the last 10 days. as your friend i’m delighted that you’re into doing this for yourself.

there are some awesome comments here, too. I only have a couple of things to add.

    1) cosign on FitDay- they have a webbased jawn thats good but simply being AWARE of how much you’re eating makes you realize that its probably over the top. Plus they have things to add in activities to help you track your caloric intake, weight etc. D has used it before and I think its really great.

    2) body weight is a battle of intake v. expenditure. you have to burn more than you eat to lose weight, period. so the other half of this is exercising more - and you can do it in really stupid silly ways that add up. take the stairs, walk to and from work instead of the metro while its nice, etc. i’m super stoked you’re joining a gym, it will help you a lot if you enjoy the things you do.

    3) this is a life long process, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be diligent. internalize that.

I second Giessel, though I don’t actually know him. This is really astonishing. But what gives? I talked to you on googlechat for, like, a long time and you didn’t even mention this. But good for you. Seriously.

My only advice is this: learn to eat much, much slower. Try not to read or watch TV while eating. Take breaks. This looks and feels ridiculous, particularly when you’re eating alone in a restaurant. But do it anyway. It takes a while for your brain to realize you’re full, and if you eat to fast you can easily end up eating more than you need to feel satisfied. After doing this again and again, you come to realize that smaller portions will suffice, which means you can still eat total junk now and then. But just a little rather than a lot.

Now I’m on to the next post, where I find out how this all ended.
