Shows, showmanship

So since the most common complaint I hear about this blog is “jeeeeez, mbg, you just, you post so frequently, and they’re such short posts - could you just wait awhile longer and roll everything you want to say into a really thick post so we can really sink our teeth in, as it were?” I have been going to shows for the last couple of weeks and thinking about things to say but not writing the things. Fun at the impound lot… really.

Sunday night TM, MS, CV, MBG and I all trekked to Baltimore to see the Pipettes at Sonar. CV has the review, but I have a story. See, on our hunt for parking, I found myself in familiar territory: the Baltimore impound lot. One of ‘em, anyway. I’ve been meaning to post about this for months… (more…)

Rams taint live

So, back in March V and Hector and I did the unthinkable and trekked to NoVA for a concert. Specifically, we went to something called the “State Theater” (which I presume is just some retro-eastern-bloc-kitsch and is, in fact, a privately operated, for-profit venue) in a place called “Falls Church” (which is indistinguishable from the rest of NoVA, all strip malls and parking lots.) It was unseasonably cold and we were underdressed for the long line to get in. We walked in on the opener, Mixel Pixel and, basically unimpressed, proceeded to the balcony.
