I went into the grocery store a few weeks ago, a place where I normally just get the exact same things every time, because it’s easy and it’s not like I do enough cooking to make my meals interesting anyway, but I had just been talking about pudding, so I naturally went to the pudding/JELL-O section to see what flavors of JELL-O they had. The way things have gone lately, I’m beginning to think we should be posting at that other site. By now you’ve read about Halloween. Yeah. Good times. But we are busy and resilient types, inclined to pick up and continue on. In that spirit, CV, MBG, and I made our way to the Halloween store at Cleveland Park, motivated by the need for costumes for a soiree this weekend and enticed by a post-holiday 50%-off sale.
In retrospect, we might have known it wasn’t our night before we made it into the parking lot. (more…)

First of all, this blog is not being abused or neglected. It merely… fell down the stairs. Yes. For all of July and change.
I went to Austin and NYC and did ridiculously fun things during this time but you don’t want to hear about that, right? Nooo, let’s ignore our hiatus and talk about tonight. Tonight we (The Maestro, myself, and our two close associates) found ourselves in a neighborhood we’d never really been to before, I guess you’d call it Shaw? Maybe Ledroit Park. Maybe Howard? I don’t know what neighborhood it was, but we were looking at an apartment (which was amazing but which we can’t take (no parking)) and the greatest thing my scouting of the area turned up to commend the place was that it was literally on the same block as “Thai X-ing”. So round abouts 2 months past I says to Vermonstrous I says “hey Vermonstrous, ‘member last spring when we made ourselves a meat-smoker
just like god hisself intended? And how we smoked us up a whole mess o’ pig and holy shit when are we doing it again?” Well, the natural time for smoking meats came and passed and, though you wouldn’t know it from reading our blog, we did, in fact, smoke meats aplenty. We’re not very good bloggers. We are, however, excellent makers of all things bbq. There are pictures, so even though it’s a few weeks late (writing collaboratively is substantially more difficult than you might imagine), we thought we’d share.
