ok, I did it

As a follow-up to our ‘greatest game’ last week, Bobby McObvious asked in the comments who was going to make the official youtube playlist. I have taken that liberty. Here is the link. I took some liberties with it, cutting out stuff I just personally didn’t want to hear (since I actually will listen to this), but uh, 130 classic 90s tracks. Please do enjoy.

The greatest game ever played

It started simply enough. A casual email thread, making plans with friends. I used the word “hooch” in passing and immediately got this back:

Becca: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBp7lqoyrok

Jess: OMG that’s exactly what i was thinking! relatedly, somehow i heard this TWICE this weekend:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5MjVyqByzU. and one of the times was on someone’s ipod.

To which I replied: do not claim to have not sung along, at least for the chorus, for we know it to be impossible. this is a good game. what is next? I’ll offer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDAXltfj8-Y

Eleven dozen tracks/links later and I think I can safely say this is the most addicting game I’ve ever played. (more…)

Shows, showmanship

So since the most common complaint I hear about this blog is “jeeeeez, mbg, you just, you post so frequently, and they’re such short posts - could you just wait awhile longer and roll everything you want to say into a really thick post so we can really sink our teeth in, as it were?” I have been going to shows for the last couple of weeks and thinking about things to say but not writing the things. Not until tonight, anyway. (more…)

Neeeeeeeerds!

Ok, so, tough question time. We posed this to Tomahawk Chop (one of four or so unofficial roommates here at the Castle) last week and it spurred much deliberation, so I thought it’d be a good one to turn over the the ‘crowd’ (our massive, adoring readership). Simple question: rank the 5 (official) roommates, from nerdiest to least nerdy. (more…)

Answer me this question of three

Months ago, before this blog existed (at least outside of our minds), MBG, CV and I were discussing what the lineups would be for our dream concerts. Rules being:

  1. Bands must still exist (No original Clash)
  2. Bands must actually still tour (No Led Zepplin, at least at the time of this original discussion)
  3. Lineup must be feasible in terms of each spot (Your opener must be an obvious opener and your headliner must be an obvious headliner; e.g. you can’t have the Arcade Fire opening for Radiohead opening for U2).
